Either scope is fine. The main difference is that the StarBlast will need to be placed on a table, while the SkyQuest sits directly on the ground. My preference would be the SkyQuest, since having the scope away from a table makes for a more stable platform and you can use a stool or folding chair to sit on and observe. The StarBlast is fine if you have a table always at the ready and that table is doesn't wobble or move when bumped.

I don't recommend zoom eyepieces. They are not as sharp as single focal lengths, and have narrow fields of view when zoomed out.
I wouldn't recommend a 5-inch reflector. 6-inch aperture is about the minimum for pleasing views. Cost is anywhere from $300 up.
What you have is good enough for a start. The Highlight Plossls are fine eyepieces. The $400 eyepieces like the Naglers and Pentaxes give you a sharp wide field view and are nice but what you have plus the barlow is OK for now. Actually the "lowly" plossl is better on planets as I find the views just slightly sharper on fine detail.
As far as wide field eyepieces, the Orion Stratus are good bang for the buck.

gold cleaner won't remove the black tarnish from your silver ring.
Regarding the toothpaste approach, if your toothpaste is abrasive (most are) it will remove some tarnish, but will also scratch your ring.

The FX are the brightest most realistic but can be beaten to death and break easily. I know I have a broken one in the corner.
So basically you will have to settle for the Hasbro ones for playing and the Master Replica's for bright well made lightsabers for now.
