I hadn't been in probably 8 years before my last visit, because my vision hasn't changed in forever. But I wanted some colored contacts to enhance my natural color, so I went for the eye exam and fitting. You will be able to drive home if he/she dilates your eyes; just be sure to get a pair of those blinder-looking shades they have at the office. Your eyes will be sensitive to light for a short while after dilation. The eye doctor didn't dilate my eyes…he just had me read off the chart to verify my vision power, then gave me a glaucoma test (you may not need this yet- I'm 27 and there is some history of glaucoma in my family), and measured my pupils for contacts. After that, he took me to a table and let me practice putting in and removing contacts, and trained me on how to clean and store them when I'm not wearing them. The eye doctor will let you try on as many colors as you like, and he/she will send you home with at least one trial pair to wear for 2 weeks, to see how you do wearing them. I tried on about every color of trial lenses they had haha, and the doctor didn't mind a bit. It's good to get an idea of what you do and don't like before you start ordering them by the box.
My total at a Wal Mart Vision Center was $91, including the eye exam, fitting, trial pair of colored contacts, 2 sample sizes of solution, a contact lens case, and my prescription. You can order your contacts anywhere that you want to as soon as you have a prescription. The Wal Mart Vision Centers are pretty fairly priced, but I can still get my Freshlook contacts cheaper on 1800contacts.com, and they ship really fast.

Get the StashBox, a video editing application from StashSpace.Com that is very easy to use and has a great import directly from your camcorder option. The application is free. Go to and sign-up for an account (Free and Paid account levels). Then on the my account tab click on the StashBox icon. Their record directly from camcorder feature is very intuitive. They also have great pick up the phone customer support in case you need any help.
Alternatively you can send your video tapes to StashSpace to be transferred into a digital format (only $7 tape). You can edit the video online or receive your video back on data DVD or portable hard drive.

does your new camcorder have an AV inout? (this is more likely with cannon models) If so then connect it to to the AV output on your older camera
then you can
a) press AV in and then record on your new camcorder and play on you old camcorder to transfer the footage.
or
b) Connect both camcorders like above and then connect the new camcorder to your computer using a firewire connection and run the footage straight into your computer(this method might not be as reliable)
If your new camera doesnt have a AV input but has a firewire input then you need something like a hollywood dazzle bridge

digital means it can be digitally converted into the computer to be edited. if its not digital then its manual, manual means its not digital like that old camcorder u used to have thats big with a videcassete. digital is the new age of technology.
I suggest you start your computer. When your Windows O/S is running, go check out your email, or something for a few minutes. Let the program 'warm up'. (Actually it's the hardware inside, and Windows)
Now close your browser, and go back to just the desktop screen.
Install the CD that comes with the video card. The CD contains the drivers, and other associated software needed. (Best thing to do However, is to consult the Quick Install Instructions that come with the vid card. This takes precedence, over anything I print here!)
Follow the instructions on the cd.
Now close this window when done. If it asks you to restart your computer, or gives this option, DON'T! Click on 'Restart Myself', or 'Restart Later', or whatever. You want to turn the computer off, not restart! Shut the computer down normally. (Start>Turn Off Computer>

When the computer is off, unplug it from the AC source of electricity.
Unplug all cables. (Power, ethernet, monitor, mouse, etc.) Open the computer. (Work on a table) Lay the computer on it's side. (You can lay a towel down to keep from scratching the table, or your computer)
Lay the computer down so that the side that is up, is the open side. ('Natch!) Touch the metal frame of the computer case. This simple procedure, will alleviate your body of static electricity. Your body contains static electricity. Static will burn out your delicate computer hardware components, in a New York minute!
With the computer unplugged you're safe. With you touching the metal frame of the computer case, the computers safe!
Now take the vid card out of it's protective anti-static bag, and install it.
Refrain from using a magnetic-tipped screwdriver. (You'll need a Philips screwdriver)
Making sure that you haven't accidentally jostled any cables loose from the hardware components inside, or that any ram sticks have been jostled loose, close the computer case.
Plug all cables back in. If you simply pulled the power cable out of the back of the computer, STOP! Unplug this cable from the surge protector. Plug it in the back of the computer. Now plug it in the surge protector.
If you do it the other way, there is a chance of a voltage spike!

Make sure you plugged the monitor into the vid card, and not back into the I/O area where it was before! (I/O=Input/Output. This is the area where your mouse, keyboard, etc., plugs into)

Sometimes if you install the graphics card,(Video card. Same/same),
BEFORE you install the cd with the drivers, Windows selects a generic driver of it's own. Windows will select a driver that it thinks matches the vid card. This=NO! You will have a conflict!
Windows: "Hmmm, no drivers? I'll just match this one to it. What the heck! " "Wait, a minute! What are these drivers that have been installed now? Which ones do I USE?"
Edit: Doing it this way will force your BIOS program to change the settings for video. From integrated, (Or Onboard), to PCI, or AGP, or PCI-Express. Depends on what kind of graphics expansion slot ,your Gateway model uses.
